Dale Barrett: My design practice was established in 1998 and focuses on the production of publications and marketing materials for art galleries, museums, artist-run centres, arts organizations and artists.

Following undergraduate studies (B.A. Fine Art, Asbury College, Lexington, KY, 1980) I began working in the art gallery sector, holding positions at the Art Gallery of Hamilton (Preparator, 1983 - 1986), Oakville Galleries (Curator, 1986 - 1991), Inter/Access: Electronic Media Art Centre (Project & Event Coordinator, 1991 - 1994), The Craft Gallery, Ontario Crafts Council (Curator, 1993 - 1998), Prime Gallery, Toronto (2004 - 2006) and John B. Aird Gallery, Toronto (Director, 1998 to present).

My design career took root alongside the emergence of the Apple computer in the early 80s. Using one of the first Apple computers on the market I began designing publications for exhibitions I was curating. Then in the 90s, my knowledge of computer systems and software expanded while working at Inter/Access. This led me to self-directed and part-time studies in graphic design, and to integrating my interest in the visual arts with my love of the printed page.
